On Sunday, October 10, Peace Mennonite Church participated in a combined worship service with the other ministries which share the same facilities in honor of World Communion Sunday. At PMC we welcome you to be part of ourfamily, and we want you to know more about us.
You can get a sense of what we believe by looking at the PMC Commitment
that you will find elsewhere in this brochure.
As you can tell from reading that statement, we believe we are called to
follow Jesus in a radical way.
We
seek peace (shalom, right
relationship, or wholeness) by working for justice and standing with the
oppressed and forgotten of society.
We
worship God with all of our being at PMC, with our hearts in praise, our minds
in study, and our hands in service. We
believe that God spoke to people years ago through the holy scriptures, the
life and person of Jesus, and the presence of the Holy Spirit in the gathered
community.
We
believe God still speaks to us today in the same ways and that God means what
God says. The answer to the question
“What would Jesus do?” is usually easy.
Actually living the answer may
not be. But, as Christians, we are
called to live as Jesus lived and to teach as Jesus taught. Please join us on this exciting journey of
faith and discernment.

Why participate with PMC?
If you are seeking an alternative
Christian experience, one that doesn’t use scare tactics or heavy-handed
proselytizing to engage your spiritual side, then you will feel welcome
here. If you think some Christian
churches have missed the point of Jesus’ teachings and you’d like another interpretation
- then come join our worship and action community.
Why we’re different
In a culture obsessed with earthly
power and possessions, we seek justice and offer mercy. In a culture obsessed with individualism and
material wealth, we seek community action and simple living. In a culture that believes violence and war
are real solutions, we claim peacemaking as a key teaching of Jesus, and we
promote non-violent alternatives. In a
culture that uses God to justify all kinds of misdeeds (sometimes via
misinterpretations of scripture) we believe God expects us to love our
neighbors, our enemies and ourselves.
