Cooperating Agencies of MVS Dallas


AIDS Services of Dallas is a residential facility for people with HIV/AIDS having limited resources. MVS has placed five workers at ASD in six years: two grant writers, a social worker and two records managers.

Common Ground Community Federal Credit Union offers credit union services to to low income households and Common Ground Community Economic Development Corporation organizes and advocates on behalf of people with few resources, primarily on issues of housing and homelessness. MVS has placed a bookkeeper working at Common Ground.

Comunidad Child Care Center opened in 1999. A project of Dallas area Mennonite Churches, CCCC is meeting families' needs in a underserved area. It shares a building with Comunidad de Esperanza, an Hispanic Mennonite church in East Dallas. The Center's first Director was an MVSer.

The Dallas Peace Center is a headquarters for education and action for peace and justice in North Texas. MVS has placed volunteers as Director of the center and Editor of the Dallas Peace Times.

East Dallas Community School is a Montessori school serving a multicultural population of children age one year through third grade and their families. MVS has placed a teacher and a bookkeeper at EDCS.

The Exchange Club Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse (EXCAP) works with families to prevent child abuse. MVS currently has a social worker assigned to EXCAP.

Family Outreach Center of East Dallas works with families to prevent child abuse.

Dallas Habitat for Humanity meets housing needs for low-income families. MVS has placed a repair/maintenance worker at Dallas habitat.

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Clinic meets community health needs in South Dallas. MVS has placed a nurse at thie MLK clini.

Pastoral Counseling and Eductation Center provides individual, group, marriage & family, and play therapy on a sliding scale fee basis. PCEC is also a resource for pastoral counselor training and continuing education. MVS has placed receptionist/intake staff at PCEC.

Refugee Services of North Texas provides legal assistance to persons who have been granted refugee status by the US.

St. Philips Episcopal School and Community Center is a private academy which serves primarily African-American children age three years through fourth grade. The Community Center provides after-school activities, such as athletic teams, for neighborhood children. Over a four year period, MVS has placed two teacher and two teacher's aides at St. Philips school and an assistant director at the community center.
