Group Commitment Statement
I commit myself to Peace Mennonite Church, believing that we have
been called by God to be a visible community of Christians
seeking to follow God as we know Him through Jesus Christ.
I have examined my life and believe there is nothing in my past
and present relationships which would hold me back from full
commitment to this fellowship.
Together we affirm our commitment to God:
- We accept the Bible, the Word of God written, as our guide
for faith and life.
- We learn God's will for us through the Bible, and by
prayer, counsel with other believers, and sensitivity
to the Spirit.
- We accept Jesus Christ as the Savior and resurrected
Lord who is present, leading and teaching us.
- We seek to obey God in all of life, recognizing that
suffering may result.
Together we affirm our commitment to Each Other:
- We affirm our relationship as brothers and sisters in
Christ, recognizing our need for one another.
- We commit ourselves to meet regularly for worship,
fellowship, working out our lives together, and
seeking corporate witness.
- We will support each other in Christian love, giving and
receiving admonition in living a life of obedience to God.
- We will help each one develop and use his/her abilities
for the glory of God to achieve personal fulfillment.
- We will seek to come to decision by consensus, respecting
each individual without coercion.
Together we affirm our commitment to The World:
- We will care for God's creation.
- We will be a Christ-like example by our lifestyle.
- We will share the Good News with neighbors anywhere.
- We will expose evil in all of its forms.
- We will witness for peace by overcoming evil with good.
- We will promote justice by serving the needs of those
around us and standing with the oppressed.
